RE: Anyone Use The Gentle Leader?

After reading some of these post, I guess Rosey (Grier) my golden needs a whole lot more training. We just put him on a leash with a regular collar and he walks beside us like a regular, happy dog. :)

RE: Things left on the highway

Our in-motion satelite came loose and blew off the roof on the way back from Galveston last year. If you find it, you can keep it. :)

RE: wal mart situation

I also fail to understand why anyone, other than that people who own and operate the Walmart should care how I utilize their parking lot as a place to stop. We often stop as early as 2PM or so in the afternoon and may not roll out until 10AM the next morning. We always put out two of the three slides. When we travel with another couple, we park the motorhomes in opposite directions if we can and have even pulled out lawn chairs on a nice evening and watched the people come and go while we have cocktails. If there is plenty of room in the area...who cares! There it is, hanging out at WM for 20 hours w/ cocktails (open containers, illeagal in most cities), just watching folks SPEND their hard money while you free load. Not resting for a few hours while keeping the public safe from being too exhusted to drive but looking like this is your destination to spend how much ever time. Oh I am sure you buy your alcohol from WM so this justifies staying there for nothing? So why go down the road and pay for a campground when you can do what you can do for nothing ? Oh, you're not the only ones that the public see's doing this and Iam sure this is what generates folks to go city council meetings and complain. They live in this community and have a right to go to WM and not have to look at you doing this, it's their community. We've stayed at hundreds of campgrounds and maybe have thought a few (5 at the most) were not what we expected, but not enough to condem the whole industry and say we'll stay at WM from now on because of noise, kids, loud folks - hell you'll be running forever. There are land owners (in Ca. south of Bodega Bay) who have opened there fields to Rver's for " Boondocking ", no water/electric just open space, all for about $5.00 a night. To me that's Boondocking, not parking in a asphalt parking lot of a retail bussiness. :B Absolutely laughable! You shouldn't take life so seriously.

RE: electricity rates long term stay question

Well it's 105 right now and the disc in the meter is spinning like a frisbee with seizures!:B:B Soooooooooooo I*'m glad the rate both baseline and second tier is fairly low!:E Both the roof top and portable a/c running and maintaining 78. Phew I'll be glad when the sun goes down! Supposed to be like this until Monday when it cools to the upper 80;s to mid 90's. Well it's 105 right now and the disc in the meter is spinning like a frisbee with seizures! Funny! Funny! Funny! :)

RE: People driving slower?

We returned from a west coast trip last week and I certainly didn't notice much of a slow down on I10 and then I20 heading back to the Dallas area. Much of I-10/I20 has a speedlimit of 70mph for trucks and 80mph for everything else; and even though J usually drives the speedlimit but usually no faster than 75mph we were often passed by both cars and trucks.

RE: Anyone know anything about these two Coleman grills?

We also have a Coleman Roadtrip and we use it often. With both the grill plates and the griddle tops it is very convenient. While it will use those small propane bottles, we carry a small refillable tank. It's about a 3 minute set-up and take down. As to size, I know that it fits in it's travel case nicely and the motorhome's slide-out tray.

RE: electricity rates long term stay question

While numbers just aren't my thing (LOL) ; I can tell you that when we visited Buckhorn Lakes RV Resort in Kerrville, TX last summer, our RV site was billed at a substantially lower rate than the daily rate and we we were billed separately for our electricity for the week based on the meter reading at the site. Our weekly electric bill was around $21. In July, in south Texas, you run the air conditioners all the time.

RE: Williams, AZ Which campground do you prefer

We have stayed at the Grand Canyon Railroad RV Park and I don't think I would call paved roads and concrete pads a parking lot. It is a fairly new park so the trees and landscaping are still pretty small. All of their amenities are 1st class and you can use the hotel swimming and fitness facilities. You are within walking distance to the city of Williams. The even offer a Doggy Sitting Service. Riding the train to the Grand Canyon is also a lot of fun. I recommend getting reservations in the last car...I think they call it the Parlor Car. Grand Canyon Railroad RV Park Laura

RE: Recommeded Campground between Richmond and DC

Cherry Hill RV Park is very close to Washington DC and they have transportation available to connect you to public transportation to get into the city. Bus tours also stop at the RV Park. Here is a link to the Transportation Opportunities We drove into the city and found parking around the Smithsonians fairly easy to find, maybe we were just lucky??? If you drive your toad into the city...BRING LOTS OF QUARTERS! Laura

RE: max weight in campground

It would seem to me that weight is not a very good indicator of how agressive or even whether a particular dog is a problem. Rosey (Grier) our 65 pound golden might lick you to death. :) In all our travels, we have never seen or heard of this restriction. This rule seems quite silly to me. Laura

RE: making arrangements for beloved pets

This a bit unrelated, but, I didn't know what a Vizsla was until I looked it up on this website. Vizsla They are a really pretty dog. My husband is an attorney and we have never discussed what might happen to Rosey. I guess we always thought we would outlive him. Something to think about isn't it?

RE: Pet Sitting

We have also used the "dog walking" services offered at the Alpen Rose in Durango. I wish more RV Parks would offer this service. We seldom leave Rosey (Grier) :) for longer than 4 hours in the motorhome at a time.

RE: Steak 'n Shake?

The steakburgers are OK, but I really don't like those skinny little fries very much. J loves the place and always has a steakburger, fries and chili.

RE: wal mart situation

When we are just traveling to get to a destination, we often accept Walmart's gracious invitation to spend the night in their parking lot. We pull in and air level, if it's hot, we turn on the generator for AC and put out two of our slides. It is convenient and hassle free and I've never been to Walmart where I couldn't find something to purchase. :) If you don't want to stay at a Walmart, that's your choice. Why should anyone care that we do?

RE: Mail order pharmacies (not online pharmacies)

Aetna, our health insurance provider has it's own mail in pharmacy for repetitive prescriptions which are ordered 90 days at a time. We like the program, it works very efficiently. Our physician will usually write Rx for 6 months at a time. Once a script is mailed in, we can reorder "on-line". I am not sure whether they would mail to an alternative address though.
